Advance Despedida For Edelle (with Plot Twist!)
A lot of pastel balloons! Hint: Sana ganito rin sa bachelorette ko lols! |
Last February 22, we planned a Korean themed Goodbye party for our dear high school friend Edelle. She passed the entrance exam for her Master's degree in Ajou University in Gyeonggi-do.
One of the
runner-up ideas for the theme was a Filipino themed party with the rational
that she might miss a lot of Filipino foods but apparently the decorations
committee already bought decors for a Korean themed party haha!
We did our best to
procure Korean foods for the day. Me and Michael went to a Korean store to buy
appetizers, Simon went to buy Korean soy friend chicken from a K-restaurant,
Raf and Jocel for tons of soju, Iris for the melona ice cream (which she tasked
me to include it in our store run!), Biann & JM baked crinkles and Khloee whipped out his cooking skills
to procure jjapchae and honey lemon tea.
After buying all the ingredients, we headed to the mall to buy tape for the decors and an extra balloon pumper, which actually took a lot of time because Michael ended up buying other things *sighh* and I was scared because the ice cream must start melting inside the cartons and Simon told me traffic going to his house is insane that day. Lo and behold, he was soooo right. We ended up doing a detour and took us an hour to arrive. I still had too cook the foods though huhu. Anyway, we were able to start cooking 30 mins after arriving when half of the gang was already there.
Suddenly while everyone was setting up, Jocel who was tasked to lie and convince Edelle to go to Fairview sent a message saying Edelle is still in the grocery with her parents. We were really worried she might end up not coming. So everyone though of different ideas to insist but anyway, she did said yes she'll be arriving. Whew!
Overall, the surprise was a success and everyone ended up gobbling up most of the foods. We always love to find any excuse for a good party!
Plot twist update: So after a few days, Covid-19 was announced as a pandemic. Edelle was notified that semester will be moved on September. So we ended up throwing a very very advance goodbye party for her hahahaha
