BATAAN: West Nuk Beach who?

September 09, 2017
Without a doubt, I'm an annual regular of beaches in the western coastline of Northern Luzon. And this year, I went back to Bataan to celebrate me and my friends' birthday. As cheesy as it may sound, I always loved how our birthdays are close together. Feels like we're all interconnected in some way since they're the closest I can have from a sibling.

We wanted somewhere close and just few hours away from the metro. This resort has always been on my mind, reserved for quiet some time for an occasion like this. I saw it before on a website (I'm a resort hunter!) and I took note of it and it was government owned managed by National Power Commission. A friend affirmed to me that it was an undiscovered gem.

Start scrolling through the wonderful photos I have taken and see my verdict below!

It's best to catch up with sunrise or sunset so you can witness the golden hour!

I was not able to take a proper picture of the rooms! I feel so sorry not providing enough visual information for that. But we got the Orca room which is good for 9 pax. But this was definitely a good deal because we just paid Php 3,100 for the room and there were 8 of us. Once you availed any room, the cottages are free.

The resort also has their own kitchen, you can cook there. All though their cookware and plates are limited. It's a downside if there are other guests who are using it so you just have to bring your own cookware just in case.

My last reminder for you guys, Don't swim at night!! Sea water was not deep for the first 20 meters. I know the moonlight is strikingly beautiful there when there are no clouds but still just for safety measures! (My friends' were like dogs sprawling and jumping all over the sea shore at 11pm and I was literally shouting for them to come back and I was doing head counts every minute!! Craziessss)

The Verdict:

Crowd- If you want a non-crowded beach in the metro with wide shoreline, this would be it!
Amenities- Don't expect the resort to be some 4-5 star hotel. Everything is basic. We had the Orca room that has 2 double decked beds and 3 single beds. It was enough for us to have each of our own beds. It was neat! No bugs or cockroaches. Bathroom is basic too, no heater. Although the electricity in the resort is run with a generator. So expect slower charging, rice cooking, air-condition and anything else that requires power. Better bring a power bank! Since we rented a room, cottages are free. I like their cottages because it's so spacey enough to play beerpong.

Picturesque- Everything was worth photo-documenting, although the beach is not perfectly maintained. There were small plastic trashes when we came but tolerable.

Communication - No signal at all (except if you stand by the beach, 3G is your luckiest hit for mobile data). It's a great place to bond with friends. No facebook, live feeds and stories lol

For inquiries regarding a reservation in Westnuk Beach Resort  you won't reach them via the numbers in their website, signal is scarce in there. I did my reservation through this number 924-5300 loc. 5710 and look for Ms. Sheena.
